That hot tub in your backyard. The one that stopped heating two summers ago. The one that is now full of rainwater and breeding mosquitoes. The one you step around every time you mow the lawn and think, I really need to do something about that.
We are the something.

Blue Door Junk Removal specializes in hot tub removal in Kelowna and across the Okanagan. We have pulled old spas out of backyards, off decks, out of gazebos, and from some spots that made us wonder how they got there in the first place.

Hot tubs do not last forever. The jets fail. The heaters die. The shells crack. The cost to repair becomes more than the tub is worth. And then it just sits there, taking up space in your yard and reminding you of money spent on something that no longer works.
Time to let it go.

Why Hot Tub Removal Is a Serious Job

A standard hot tub weighs between 500 and 900 pounds. Empty. Some of the bigger models hit 1000 pounds or more. That is not something you and a couple of buddies are going to lift into a truck bed on a Saturday afternoon.

And hot tubs are bulky. Even the smaller ones are awkward. Wide, heavy, no good handholds. Moving one intact is nearly impossible without specialized equipment.

That is why we break them down on site.

We cut the shell into sections using saws designed for the material. Fiberglass, acrylic, or rotomold plastic. Whatever your tub is made of, we have the tools to take it apart safely.

Once it is in pieces, we load the sections into our truck along with the pumps, motors, covers, and hardware. Everything goes. You are left with an empty spot in your yard where a broken hot tub used to be.
A guy in Dilworth had a hot tub on a raised deck. The deck was built around the tub, which meant there was no way to lift it out whole.

Previous owner's brilliant idea. We cut the tub into eight pieces, carried them down the deck stairs, and loaded up. Took us a few hours but the customer could not believe how clean the deck looked after.

How We Price

Hot tub removal in Kelowna starts at $550 and scales based on three factors that affect every
job we do
  • Tub Size

A compact two person spa costs less to break down and haul than a full size eight person tub. Bigger shells take more cuts, more load space, and more time on site. We quote based on what we see.
  • Site Access

Ground level with a wide gate is straightforward. A raised deck with narrow stairs or a tub built into a gazebo takes more work. Tight access means more time cutting, carrying, and maneuvering.
  • Your Quote

Send us a few photos of the tub and where it sits. We give you a firm number before we show up. No hourly surprises, no dump fee add ons. The price we quote is the price you pay. That simple.
Signs Your Hot Tub Needs
to Go..
Some hot tubs can be repaired. Some are past saving. Here is how you know it is time to call us instead of a repair tech.
The shell is cracked. Deep cracks in fiberglass or acrylic usually mean the tub is done. Water damage and structural failure follow. Not worth fixing.

The equipment keeps failing. If you have replaced the heater twice and the pump once and something else just broke, the tub is telling you something. Listen to it.

The cost to repair exceeds the value. A $2000 repair on a tub worth $1500 does not make sense. Better to remove it and maybe buy new if you still want one.

It has been sitting unused for years. If the tub has been empty, disconnected, and ignored for more than a year or two, starting it up again usually reveals more problems than expected. Sometimes a clean removal makes more sense than a resurrection.

You just want it gone. Maybe you never used it much. Maybe you inherited it with the house. Maybe your lifestyle changed. Whatever the reason, if you want your yard space back, that is reason enough.

Hot Tub Removal Process
Here is how it works when you call us for hot tub removal in Kelowna.

First, we get details. Size of the tub, location in your yard, access for our truck and equipment. Photos help a lot.

Second, we quote it. Hot tub removal pricing depends on size and difficulty of access. A small tub on ground level with easy truck access costs less than a large tub on a second story deck with stairs only.

Third, we schedule. We come out with the crew and tools needed. Saws, dollies, whatever the job requires.

Fourth, we work. We disconnect anything still connected, drain any remaining water, cut the tub apart, and load all the pieces. We also take the cover, steps, and any accessories.

Fifth, we clean up. Sweep the area, haul away every piece, leave you with an empty space.

A couple in Lake Country had us remove their hot tub last fall. It sat on a concrete pad next to their patio. Had not worked in five years. They kept a tarp over it which blew off every windstorm. Constant annoyance. We removed the whole thing in about two hours. They texted us a photo that evening of their new patio furniture set up in the same spot. That is the best part of this job. Seeing what people do with the space after.

What About the Concrete Pad?
Hot tubs usually sit on concrete pads or reinforced decks. We remove the tub and everything attached to it. The pad stays unless you want that removed too.

If you want the concrete pad removed as well, we can do that. It is an additional job with additional cost, but we handle concrete and debris removal too. Just ask when you book.

Some people leave the pad and use it for something else. Outdoor furniture. A fire pit area. Planter boxes. Up to you.
