When someone passes away, their home becomes a task. Paperwork, decisions, family conversations that are not easy. And somewhere in all of that, the house needs to be emptied.
Estate cleanouts in Kelowna are one of the most common calls we get. Families who have lost parents or grandparents and now face a home filled with decades of belongings. Sometimes they live nearby.
Sometimes they are coordinating from across the country. Either way, it is overwhelming.
We worked with a family in Peachland last year. Their father passed suddenly and he had lived alone in the same house for 40 years. Every closet, every drawer, every corner of the garage was full. The kids did not know where to start.
We spent two days with them. They went through the personal items, set aside what they wanted to keep, and we handled everything else. Photos, documents, anything sentimental got boxed up for them. The rest we hauled away, donated what we could, and disposed of the remainder properly.
The son, Nathan, told us it felt like a weight lifted once the house was empty. That he could finally breathe. We hear that a lot.
If you are facing an estate cleanout and feel stuck, call us. We will help you get through it.
